Good morning! This is sou7. Yesterday, in Day 16 of the Nanasaba 1st Season Development Diary, I introduced the Nishiden Line. In today’s development diary, I will introduce the Teito Rapid Transit Authority Line (commonly known as the Eidan Line), which handles urban transportation in the capital, Masaba.

Teito Rapid Transit Authority

As introduced in Day 4 and Day 7, the Eidan Line primarily constructs and operates subway lines within Masaba City. The Eidan subway currently consists of three lines:

  • Suzaku Avenue Line
    • Totsu Yotsukado Station – Haruho Central Station
  • Byakko Avenue Line
    • Byakko Main Station – Nijo Bridge East Station
  • Tando Nishizumi Line
    • New Nishizumi Station – Torada Town Station

Suzaku Avenue Line

The Suzaku Avenue Line is the first route of the Eidan Line to be opened. It connects from Totsu Yotsukado Station in Totsu City through Masaba City to Haruho Central Station in Haruho City. The line cuts through the plains of the Seinai Region in an east–west direction. There are two types of services: a “local service” that connects the various stations within Masaba City, and an “express service” that runs through the entire line with express operations in the city. Currently, steam locomotives are in use, but plans are underway to electrify the line and replace them with electric trains.

The urban section of the Suzaku Avenue Line has an atmosphere somewhat reminiscent of Osaka’s Midosuji Line. If it remains as is, congestion will become an issue, so a bypass route is planned to help distribute the demand.

Totsu Yotsukado Station

Totsu Yotsukado Station is the eastern terminus of the Suzaku Avenue Line. A characteristic of the Eidan Line is that it often runs an elevated line directly above the road and situates its stations more centrally than the National Railways. Totsu Yotsukado Station is similarly built closer to the town hall than the National Railways’ Totsu Central Station, in order to capture more demand both to and from the city.

Sendana Station

The suburban section of the Eidan Suzaku Avenue Line is largely constructed at ground level. In Sendana City, the Eidan line runs along the ground, while the National Railways operate an elevated brick-built line.

Masaba North Station

Masaba North Station is a major hub on the northern side of Masaba, where various companies converge. It offers transfers to the National Railways’ Minahasa Main Line introduced in Day 10 and to the Nishiden Avenue Line introduced in Day 16. In addition, local services operate from Masaba North Station, while express trains run through on the southern sections.

Masaba Central Station

As introduced in Masaba Central Station, the subway lines on both the Suzaku Avenue Line (currently being introduced) and the upcoming Byakko Avenue Line have been constructed using an excavation method with elevated tools.

Suzaku Tando Station

Suzaku Tando Station offers transfers between the Suzaku Avenue Line, the Tando Nishizumi Line (to be introduced later), and the National Railways’ Masaba Station. The Suzaku Avenue Line was constructed using an excavation method with elevated tools, while the Tando Nishizumi Line was built as a conventional subway.

Masaba Port

The local service splits off into a branch that reaches Masaba Port. In Simutrans-Extended, passenger and mail volumes are set for station buildings, ports, and signal cabins. As a result, constructing a large-scale port facility generates significant commuter demand on its own.

Haruho Central Station

Haruho Central Station is the terminus on the Haruho side. By making extensive use of elevated tools, the line has been made more accessible from within the city compared to the National Railways’ Haruho Station.

Having introduced the Suzaku Avenue Line, this update has become quite lengthy. The Eidan Line also includes the Byakko Avenue Line and the Tando Nishizumi Line. In the next update, Day 18 of the Nanasaba 1st Season Development Diary, I will continue to introduce the Eidan Line. Until next time, enjoy!
